Puzzle games that respect your time
There's a whole category of puzzle game that seems designed to interrupt you: energy meters, forced waits, ads between every level. I've stopped reviewing most of them because they're exhausting.
Tinker Town Workshop is a good counterexample. You get a puzzle, you solve it, you get the next one. No countdown, no lives to buy back. It trusts you to play at your own pace and that alone puts it ahead of most of the market.
When I evaluate a puzzler now, the first thing I check is whether it interrupts flow. A great puzzle is a conversation between you and the designer, and every artificial wall breaks that conversation.
If you want relaxing brain food, look for games that autosave, work offline and let you retry instantly. Those small design choices matter more than fancy graphics.
